State Sentinels in Action

State Sentinels in Action

  • ACSI State Sentinel Andy Wilkins, Head of School at Oklahoma Bible Academy, helped mobilize ACSI schools across Oklahoma in reaching out to state legislators regarding key education bills impacting school choice and scholarship programs.
  • Christopher P. DeSanctis, ACSI State Sentinel for New York, and Head of School at Gateway Academy, recently published an  encouraging Governor Kathy Hochul to participate in the Federal Scholarship Tax Credit program so families can access expanded educational opportunities. We’re proud of his ongoing advocacy efforts to advance school choice and support students across the state.
  • On February 26, 2026, Autumn Faulker, ACSI’s Director for State Policy Engagement, submitted our formal opposition to the Kansas Senate Education Committee regarding KS SB 491 with support from Dr. John Walker, ACSI Kansas State Sentinel and head of Central Christian School in Hutchinson. This bill would impose repetitive and burdensome requirements on private schools under the guise of safety. In Maryland, ACSI schools urged legislators to oppose HB 649, legislation that elevates SOGI issues within the state Civil Rights Commission’s enforcement authority, offers limited protection for religious schools, and raises concerns about expanded government oversight of faith-based education. In Minnesota, ACSI State Sentinel Dan Beckering, head of school at Southwest Christian School, joined ACSI in a February 18, 2026, coalition letter urging the state House Education Finance committee to include non-public schools in a state school safety program.
  • ACSI State Sentinel Minta Hardman at Mountain View Christian School joined Parental Rights Advocacy Day in Richmond, standing for faith, family, and freedom. HB 359 was stopped. Thankful for the students, parents, and staff who showed up, prayed, and made their voices heard.
  • Grateful for our ACSI school leaders who are standing strong for religious liberty and speaking out against VA HB 359. Thank you to Roanoke Valley Christian Schools and Zac Hellkamp for boldly standing for truth and liberty.
  • Maranatha Christian Academy Head of School and ACSI State Sentinel Dr. Kimberlee Gill stood strong for students and families at a state capitol rally! Kansas HB 2468 is an important step for school choice, and we’re encouraged to see Christian schools like Maranatha leading the way in support of educational freedom.
  • Dr. John Walker, ACSI Public Policy & Advocacy Summit Award Winner and State Sentinel, wrote an  explaining why Kansas should opt into the Federal Scholarship Tax Credit Program, expanding educational opportunity for families while supporting school choice and student success. His leadership is a reminder that strong advocacy begins with informed, faithful voices in our communities.
